About MOS
Malaysian Osteoporosis Society (Persatuan Osteoporosis Malaysia) was formed in November 1996 by a group of doctors who are passionate about improving the care of patients with osteoporosis. Since inception, the society grown to include more than 130 active members across multiple disciplines including rheumatology, endocrinology, geriatrics, orthopaedics, internal medicine and even allied health professionals.
Society activities include organising medical education for healthcare professionals, annual scientific meetings and hosting public forums. The society has spearheaded numerous advances in osteoporosis care in Malaysia, with notable achievements including the drafting of the Malaysian Clinical Practice Guidelines for Osteoporosis 2022 and the inclusion of Malaysian population data into the widely used FRAX calculator.
The society aims to continue to be at the forefront of osteoporosis care locally and internationally for years to come.
